Privacy policy

No cookies, no tracking tools and no content from other providers. Visitor statistics come from our own server log, with IP addresses shortened before anything is stored.

This policy covers jfw.engineering and build.jfw.engineering.

Hosting

Both websites run on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, in a data centre in the EU. Hetzner processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).

To deliver a page, the server needs your IP address and the request your browser sends. Your full IP address is only used for that connection and is not stored.

Server log and visitor statistics (jfw.engineering)

For each request to jfw.engineering the server writes a log entry with:

  • your IP address, shortened before it is written: an IPv4 address to its first two parts (for example 203.0.0.0), an IPv6 address to its first 32 bits,
  • date and time, the page or file requested, the response status and the amount of data sent,
  • the page you came from (referrer), and the browser and operating system your browser reports.

We use these entries to recognise and fend off attacks and errors, and to count page views and visitors per day, see which pages are read and where visitors come from. From the entries we make a statistics report that contains only totals, no IP addresses. We do not build profiles and do not combine the entries with other data. Nothing is stored on or read from your device for this.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure operation of the website and knowing how it is used. The log entries are deleted after 14 days.

build.jfw.engineering keeps no access log.

Contact by email or phone

If you write to us or call us, we use your details and your message to answer and, where it leads to a project, to prepare and carry it out (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR), otherwise on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Our email runs on Google Workspace. Google Cloud EMEA Limited, 70 Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland, processes emails on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Google may also process data in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

We delete messages when they are no longer needed, unless tax or commercial law requires us to keep them (business letters and accounting records, in Germany for up to ten years).

What is stored on your device

jfw.engineering sets no cookies. Only if you click the light / dark switch is your choice saved in your browser's local storage, so the next page opens the same way. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.

build.jfw.engineering likewise saves your light / dark choice when you click the switch. After you log in, it sets one session cookie that keeps you logged in, and it remembers which of your builds you selected.

These entries are strictly necessary for functions you use on purpose, so no consent is needed (§ 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG). We use no cookies or similar techniques for statistics or advertising. You can delete the entries at any time in your browser settings.

Accounts on build.jfw.engineering

The build guides can be read without an account. Team members who track builds and orders get an account from us. We store their name, email address, a hash of their password, their login sessions and the build and order records they enter, to provide the account (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The data is deleted when the account is closed; database backups are kept for 30 days.

Our pages link to other websites, for example suppliers in the build guides and figures of the PT3 documentation. Your browser only contacts them when you click a link; from then on the privacy policy of that website applies.

Recipients, obligations, automated decisions

Personal data goes only to the processors named above (Hetzner, Google). You are not obliged to provide personal data; without it you can still read all public pages, but we cannot answer an enquiry. We make no automated decisions and no profiling in the sense of Art. 22 GDPR.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18) and to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20). Write to the address above.

Right to object

Where we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you can object to this processing at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). An email to julius@jfw.engineering is enough.

You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for us: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf.

As of October 2026.
